People’s Community Church is an inter-denominational, inter-racial Community Church which was established in 1954. We are dedicated to the fulfillment of Christian principles through common service for the common good. We carry out the principles of Jesus Christ in a cooperative way in all areas of social, economic, political and spiritual life.
We believe the Bible is the inerrant, infallible Word of God. All that we do is based on what it says. For a more detailed description of our doctrinal beliefs please click here.
The church is located at 8601 Woodward Avenue, Detroit, MI 48202. It is situated just north of the New Center area of Detroit and is served by the city’s bus service, with stops in front of the main entrance. Fenced, secure parking areas are available as well. There is also a Church Van which provides round-trip transportation to the church.
We begin with Sunday School at 9:00 am, and that is followed by the Worship Service at 10:30 am. We encourage guests to relax, be comfortable and have a great time at People’s.
What to Expect
Expect a warm, welcoming environment, where you will find everything from casual clothes to business attire at any of our services. However, we invite you to come in what is comfortable for you, because People’s is not about what you wear, instead People’s is all about Jesus and discovering God on a deeper level.
Children at People’s
We welcome children of all ages at PCC, including babies. Children from Kindergarten to 12 years old participate in Sunday School and Children’s Worship. Those 13 and older follow the regular program.
Our service tends to be more traditional and incorporates aspects of music, welcoming of guests, announcements and a relevant message. In general the music helps us to celebrate what God has done in our lives and to express our love for Him. Our Pastor then transitions into a relevant and interesting message including scripture and prayer. The messages are Christ centered and doctrinally sound but they are also humorous, entertaining and engaging. They will motivate you to experience God on a deeper level and help equip you to live at your full potential.
At the conclusion of worship our Pastor greets and welcomes all guests and members in the Fellowship Hall. In addition, refreshments are served and this gives us an opportunity to become better acquainted with everyone.
