Pastor’s Bio

The Rev. Dr. Charles Edward Clark, Jr. is married to Pat Clark and is the former pastor of Metropolitan Baptist Church in Detroit, MI and Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Altoona, PA.
He was born in Midland, PA and graduated from Midland Lincoln High School before going on to Slippery Rock State College where he earned a BA in Communication and an MA in Counseling. He earned the Doctor of Ministry degree from Ecumenical Theological Seminary in Detroit, MI.

After finishing his MA, Reverend Clark began a 25+ year career in higher education. His years in higher education included positions at the University of Arkansas, the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, The Pennsylvania State University and Oakland University in Rochester, MI.
He was licensed and ordained to the gospel ministry at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church of Midland, PA where he served as Assistant to the Pastor under the Reverend Dr. Jeremiah Hunter.
During his ministry, he has been an associate minister at several churches and has 11 years experience in pastoral ministry and has served as pastor of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Altoona Pennsylvania, Metropolitan Baptist Church in Detroit Michigan, and was most recently appointed Senior Pastor of The Historic People’s Community Church in Detroit.

He has presented seminars on student achievement and race relations, and has been a motivational speaker for young people around the United States and in South Africa. In addition to his speaking to young people, Dr. Clark has also taught numerous classes and seminars for a variety of groups.

Pic1-for-PCCLobbyPastor Clark was elected President of the Ministerium of the International Council of Community Churches (ICCC) during the 2016 conference in Louisville, KY. The responsibilities of the President of the Ministerium are to:
– Provide structure to the auxiliary,
– Provide leadership and vision to the ICCC ministers,
– Serve as the voice of ICCC ministers,
– Support pastoral leadership initiatives,
– Be the liaison to the ICCC Board of Directors.
